SENIOR CATEGORY 

1) The competition will take place from October 15th till November 5th, 2021.


2) The competition is open to guitarists of all nationalities and countries.


3) The competition will have two rounds: preliminary round and final.


4) Contestants will be evaluated on their technique, musicianship, and total presentation. The jury will be looking for a pure concert artist.


5) All competition rounds will be online. The contestants will submit video

performances.

6) Requirements of the video submission for all three rounds
  • Start the video with a brief introduction text to show that this is a recent and original recording for the competition. Speak into the camera before the performance. State your name followed by: “This is a video submission for the The Hague – Altamira First International Virtual Guitar Competition It’s about the touch 2021”, then say for which round the video is (preliminary round or final). The introduction MUST be part of the unedited video. Contestants are not allowed to add an introduction to the video of the performance.
  • All videos must be live recordings: recorded in one take, without cuts, including introduction, all pieces and verbal presentations.
  • All pieces must be performed from memory. It is not allowed to use scores.
  • The videos must be taken with a single video camera with a frontal horizontal shot, adequate light, high quality sound.
  • Any video and audio processing is prohibited. No cuts, tampering, or edits.
  • Contestants will be disqualified for using scores or for any video cuts or tampering.
  • The video must have one of the popular formats: MP4, MKV, MOV.
  • Before uploading the video, fill in the online form for the video submission:
  1. Category (Open, Senior or Youth)
  2. Round (Preliminary or Final)
  3. Your country of residence, year and date of birth.
  4. Details of the repertoire performed: for each piece: time stamp – piece title – composer.
7) Preliminary round
  • Upload a new, unedited video via the competition’s website.
  • Deadline for video submission is October 15th, 2021.
  • Free program from different eras & styles. Maximum of 10 minutes of playing.
  • Video must be a live recording, including an introduction. No cuts, tampering, or edits. See full video requirements under 6.
8) Final
  • Upload a new, unedited video via the competition’s website.
  • Deadline for video submission is October 25th, 2021.
  • Fully free program. Maximum of 15 minutes of playing. It is not permitted to repeat pieces performed in the preliminary round of the competition.
  • Give a verbal presentation of your program of max. 3 min. You can choose to speak at the beginning of the performance and/ or between pieces. You are free to say anything you want: for example why you play this piece or something about the piece itself or about a composer. You can speak in your own language but it’s recommended to do it in English.
  • Video must be a live recording, including an introduction. No cuts, tampering, or edits. See full video requirements under 6.
  • Three contestants will be selected to the final round.
  • There will not be shared prizes.
  • The final will be streamed on YouTube/ Facebook on November 5th, 2021. The winner will be announced after the livestream.
9) Terms of Service and Privacy Policy

Your entry to the competition constitutes your consent to the use of your video and audio recordings and your name, country of residence age and photos in any and all media by the The Hague – Altamira International Virtual Guitar Competition. By participating in the competition, you automatically waive your right to material compensation in connection with the publication and distribution of the competition videos.

10) The winners will receive their prizes directly from the sponsors
11) Jury
  • The International Jury will have 4 members of different nationalities with an established reputation in the music world.
  • The Jury will be introduced via social media and website.
  • The members of the Jury are not permitted to be a relative or friend of the contestants. Members of the Jury who are presently teaching any of the contestants or who have taught any of the contestants in the past two years will refrain from discussing their (former) student’s peformance and abstain from voting for their own (former) students.
  • The jury’s decisions are final.
12) Registration and entry fee
  • Registration deadline is September 30th, 2021.
  • Entry fee is € 80. To be paid no later than September 30th, 2021

13) Dates and deadlines
