Matthias Lang
Distinguished as "A Virtuoso Upon Six Strings" by the German newspaper Rhein‐Zeitung, Matthias Lang gave concerts on four continents. He studied at the Hochschule für Musik Köln (Germany), the Conservatoire Royal de Mons (Belgium) and the University of North Texas (USA). During his doctorate, Matthias was the first guitarist to win the university’s concerto competition and performed with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Panamá. Among his publications are the CD recording Giocosa, a booklet on the history of the classical guitar, and transcriptions. For four years Matthias Lang served as a guitar instructor at America's largest College of Music located at North Texas and was appointed Professor of Guitar at Soochow University in Suzhou (China) in 2013. After resigning from his professorship for family reasons in 2017, Dr. Lang worked in the private sector and taught as a guest lecturer at the West University of Timişoara (Romania). Since May 2020 he has been living in Germany with his wife and two sons and is the Director of the AHF‐Musikzentrum Detmold.
